| Woman’s body recovered; family protests suspecting murder | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 17: The body of a woman, who was missing from home for the past few days, was today recovered by police from a canal at Kanhachak.
Police said Shakuntla Devi (35), wife of Bal Krishan of Kanhachak, who went missing from home few days back, was found dead in the village canal today.
The body was removed by cops to the GMC hospital mortuary where family members and relatives protested, alleging that it was a case of murder. A Board of Doctors then conducted post-mortem on the body.
Police said though it looked like a case of drowning, inquest proceedings had been initiated under section 174 of CrPC.
After the post-mortem was over, the family took the body home for last rites.
