CM approves Rs. 60 cr 4-lane circular road for Jammu
Announces Rs. 10 cr for restoration of flood damages

JAMMU, Aug 17:
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday approved Rs. 60 crore 4-lane circular road project along River Tawi from Panjtirthi to Gujjar Nagar to be executed in a phased manner. He directed the R&B Department to work out execution schedule of the bridge urgently taking into account all aspects of the importance of this road.
Chief Minister also sanctioned Rs. 10 crore for restoration of flood damages in Jammu and Samba districts and payment of relief to the affected families.
Chairing a high level meeting here this afternoon, the Chief Minister directed the divisional administration to finalize the assessment of losses and come up with appropriate proposal for permanent restoration of the public infrastructure so that more funds are released accordingly.
Omar Abdullah directed for analysing the load bearing capacity of Uttarbehani bridge damaged due to floods adding that if necessary a separate project for a new bridge at the site be prepared.
Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister for Industries, S. S. Salathia, Minister for Revenue, Raman Bhalla, Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Devender Singh Rana, Principal Secretary R&B, K. B.
Agarwal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary Power, Basharat Ahmad Dar, Divisional Commissioner, Pawan Kotwal and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
Earlier, the Chief Minister along with Ministers and officers visited various areas in Jammu and Samba districts to get first hand appraisal of damages caused to public and private infrastructure by the torrential rains.
The Chief Minister took stock of the damage caused to a bridge over Nallah Devika at Check Bhimsen in village Vijaypur, he also inspected the damages to a bridge at Utterbehani and Devikapuri Temple in Samba district.
Omar Abdullah interacted with the affected families at Uttarbehani whose houses have been hit by the flood water. He announced books and school bags for the students whose educational material has been washed away by the floods. He announced Rs. 5 lakhs for the restoration of damaged high school at Utterbehani.
Chief Minister also inspected the damage to a bridge linking Kunjwani with Bishnah.
