‘Most of the POK families still waiting for relief’ | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, August 18: POK displaced Families from Mirpur, Bhimber Deva, Watala Manawar Nah Chhamb, Palandar, Baag, Poonch and Muzafarabad gathered at Mubarak Mandik on August 16, 2011 and showed their resentment against the dictatorial attitude of the state and central governments who done nothing regarding ‘Resettlement Package’ for the displaced persons of 1947, 1965, 1971 (Camp, Non-Camp). Non Camp Displaced families of 1947 were sanctioned Rs 25000/- per family in the year 2000 (9 August, 2000). The custodian (P.R.O) Jammu has not initiated process of disbursing the relief (for not staying in the Camps) even though ten long years have passed. Similarly the Non Camp displaced families (Chhamb) were granted a relief package on 12 Aug 2000. About 1250 families received the above relief and 700 are waiting for the same. Revenue, relief and rehabilitation Minister Raman Bhalla submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh for final settlement of the POK Refugee families on March 4, 2011. No attention has been paid by the Prime Minister on memorandum till date. The central and state Governments are observing silence on the memorandum submitted by the revenue Minster. The memorandum does not cover the real problems of POK DPs. The POK Refugee Front has stated that they will keep Courting arrests till the central Government grants the memorandum submitted by RRR Minster.
