| “Parthenium awareness week” organised | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, August 18: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SKUAST-J, Poonch organized the "Parthenium awareness week” in collaboration with the Government Degree College, Poonch.
The programme was attended by Dr. J L Sharma, Principal, GDC, Poonch, Dr. Sanjay Khar, Programme Coordinator, KVK Poonch, Professor Tajinder Singh, HoD Chemistry, Dr. Mohd Azam HoD Zoology and others.
Altogether, about 200 students participated in the programme.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, SMS, PBG delivered an elaborative power point presentation on the topic "Parthenium- a weed of national importance”. Harmful effects of Parthenium on human beings, crops and animals were also explained.
The participants were advised to remove Parlhenium before flowering stage to avoid seed bank in the soil.
Dr. Arvind Kumar Ishar, SMS, Entomology, delivered his power point lecture on "Biological and chemical control of Parthenium”.
In the end, Dr. J.L. Sharma lauded the efforts of the KVK Poonch along with the faculty members of the GDC for organizing such an awareness programme.
