Stop crying over fake abductions and rapes
8/18/2011 9:48:38 PM
It was a mischief, even a deeper conspiracy, when the Kashmir valley witnessed loud rotests, violence, shutdowns and even curfew restrictions as people were enraged over reports of rape, abduction and murders first in Shopian and now in Kulgam. In Shopian two women,Asiya and Neelofar were alleged to have been raped and murdered by the Indian troops. With the reports surfacing in the valley trouble erupted and there seemed to be no end to the mischief when the DNA test and the postmortem reports were tampered with. People demanded CBI inquiry and when fresh DNA test was carried out besides physical examination the doctors came to the conclusion that the two women were neither raped nor murdered but they may have slipped into the canal. It did not end the era of protests and shutdowns with people and even some lawyers blaming the CBI for acting partially. Unfortunately the controversy remained for several months after the incident was reported on May 29,2009.Normalcy returned to Kashmir when prominent local people refused to buy the rape and murder story.
From Shopian the mischief mongers have moved to Kulgam where violence was triggered following reports that one Gujjar woman was abducted and raped by two Army jawans.Omar promised speedy investigation and if the two Army jawans were found to have committed the crime severe action would be taken against them. Invest igations were conducted speedily and various tests and physical examinations had later revealed that the woman had neither been abducted nor raped.
On the basis of the police investigation and medical reports he police have confirmed that the allegations levelled by the woman against the army were baseless and that she was neither abducted nor raped.Police said that after thorough investigations the alleged abduction and rape of a woman of Gujjardara, Manzgam village was found baseless and nothing of the sort had surfaced which will suggest that the woman had been abducted or raped by anyone. The preliminary report, FSL report and final medical report provided by the team of expert doctors have all proved that there was no rape or any attempt to rape and the story framed by the woman was totally concocted. The investigating team could not find any evidence that could corroborate with the allegations and action has been initiated against the complainant for misleading the police and public. The police investigation team even visited the Gujjar Dhokas in the forests, which the woman had named as the spot of the crime but everybody there denied of knowing her or that sort of incident having taken place
Both these incidents had destabilised peace in Kashmir. The image of the security forces had been soiled and maligned by those who raked up the rape and murder issue.During the last 21 years there have many incidents of the type one witnessed in Shopian and Kulgam.Time has come for the Government and people to ponder over it so that in future before they raise the hell they should leave the matter to the investigating agencies. If the police have decided to proceed against the Kulgam woman attempt should be made at awarding some punishment not only to her but to her family members especially her husband who remained mum for a week or so.They later vehemently denied the rape and abduction story but it was quite late.If the complainants of fake rape and abduction reports were punished it may discourage those mischief mongers who are quick to set Kashmir on fire by raking up imaginary tales and rape and abductions.
