Sidhra stadium to provide platform to youngsters: Bedi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, August 18: Former India captain and present coach of Jammu and Kashmir cricket coach, Bishan Singh Bedi has said that the proposed international stadium at Sidhra in Jammu, as and when completed, would provide a platform to the youngsters to excel. Bedi was speaking to the young cricketers of Jammu during a visit to the GGM Science College ground, here this afternoon. “I personally feel, as and when completed, the proposed international stadium at Jammu would provide a platform to the youngsters to excel. The visit of world acclaimed cricketers by way of matches and quality infrastructure as also systematic coaching certainly help the budding talent to groom,” said the turbaned veteran cricketer. On a maiden visit to the only cricket infrastructure in Jammu, Bedi spent some time with cricketers and boosted them for achieving higher goals. He said that there is no dearth of talent in the state and what these youngsters needed is passion to play at the international level. Appreciating the efforts of state association in holding local tournaments and camps, he said that such activities certainly help improve the standard. Bedi, who will be leaving for Srinagar tomorrow, also held discussions with the ground staff and issued them guidelines for maintenance of the existing turf and out field. Among others who accompanied state coach were chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Mohd Aslam Goni, Ranjit Kalra, Shambu Nath, Hardev Singh, Shahid Parvez and Ashok Singh.
