Abhishek, Shikha emerge best in Kurash | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, August 20: Abhishek Choudhary and Shikha Baru were declared best boy and best girl of the two-day Ist State Kurash Championship held at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today. In the senior group finals and prize distribution function, Member Parliament, Lal Singh was chief guest, who gave away medals to the winners of different weight categories. He appreciated the Jammu and Kashmir Kurash Association for introducing the game in this part of the country. Earlier, in 40 kg weight category of the under-14 age group of boys, Jeewan bagged first place beating Rohit in the final. Third place was shared by Suraj and Sumit. In 45 kg group, Shubam was first while Amit bagged second place. Third place went to Rachit and Tarun. Similarly, in 40 kg weight of under-12 category, Pushap was first, Bilal, 2nd and third place was shared by Ishan and Ashutosh. Later, president of the Association, Dr Sandeep Singh expressed his thanks to Kurash Federation of India for extending technical help in the competition. “In the inaugural state championship, we have been fully supported by the federation in technical part. And, now the association has decided to get a couple of senior boys trained from the federation so as to popularize the game in the state,” said Dr Sandeep.
