Chess: KV Gandhi Nagar boys lead in U-19 group | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, August 20: Host Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Bantalab boys lead the points tally after round three of the under-19 category on the second day of the four-day inter-KVs Regional Sports Meet in Chess, here today. Among the four leading boys with three points after round three of the six-round competition were Sarvesh Langer, Vandit, Saneh (all KV Gandhi Nagar) and Rajat Sharma of KV-3 Jallandhar Cantt. Other two boys, Rajat Bhardwaj of KV Nagrota and Dhawal Amlani of KV-3 Jallandhar were trailing behind with two and half points. Similarly, in under-14 age group, seven boys obtained equal three points thereby making it a tough contest ahead. The leaders were Mukesh Sharma (KV-3 Jallandhar Cantt), Ayush Pardhan (KV Lakhanpur), Vishav (KV Hiranagar), Kishan (KV-4 Mamoon Cantt), Piyush (KV Jyotipuram), Kushal Sharma (KV-3 Jallandhar Cantt) and Ritesh Pathania (KV Nagrota). However, in under-14 group, only two rounds were completed and third round was in progress when the last reports were filed. In view of increase in number of entries from each school, from two to five, there was record participation this time. A total of 210 boys have turned up for the competition in three age groups from 29 KVs of the Region. The competition is being held under the overall supervision of chief arbiter, S P Sharma.
