| PDP patron, president greet people on Janamashtami | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Aug 20: Peoples Democratic party Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and president Mehbooba Mufti have greeted the people of the state and Pandit brethren in particular on the occasion of Janmashtami.
In his message, Mufti said, "On the auspicious occasion of Janamashtami, I extend my greetings and best wishes to the Hindu community of the state.
Hoping that the occasion would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity Mufti said “This auspicious will strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, amity and harmony in the state”.
"May this festival inspire all of us to lead lives in which we ceaselessly strive for amity and unity with all our compatriots," he added.
Extending her "heartiest" greetings and good wishes to the people, Mehbooba said that this occasion is celebrated across the country with traditional fervour and enthusiasm, Janmashtami reminds of the life and teachings of Lord Krishna.
Emphasizing on the teachings of Lord Krishna she said that his life was symbol of discipline, knowledge and selfless action.
