State Judicial Academy organizes orientation programme on “Cyber Laws” | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 20: Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy today organized an Orientation Programme on “Cyber Laws” for the Judicial Magistrates of Jammu and Samba Districts. Advocate Rustam Sambyal, Advocate was the resource person for the programme. Objective of the programme was to apprise the Judicial Magistrates of latest developments in the field of Cyber Technology, especially after coming into force of Information Technology Act, 2008. Advocate Rustam Sambyal gave a Power Point Presentation on ‘the Cyber Laws, Cyber Crimes and Investigation of such offences. He said that with increased use of Information Technology, Computer Science and electronic devices cyber crimes have posed new challenges for the investigating agencies. He also apprised the participants about legal aspects of Information Technology Act viz. nature of offences, quantum of punishment and methods of technical and scientific investigation. Forensic science also has developed new tools and techniques for supporting investigation of cyber crimes, keeping in pace with the ever increasing field of cyber crimes. While summing up the discussions on the topic, Suresh Sharma, Director, State Judicial Academy told the participating Judicial Magistrates that judiciary also needs to build capacity to tackle with cyber crimes by providing forum for effective trial of cyber crimes when the matters are brought before the courts after investigation.
