Cheats draw money deceitfully from J&K Bank ATM
8/21/2011 12:34:20 AM
JAMMU: An amount of Rs 38,000 was drawn fraudulently by two cheats from the account of a man through J&K Bank ATM.
Balbir Singh, son of Jagat Singh of Dalbad, Nagrota, went to J&K Bank's Sidhra branch here on August 4 last to draw money from his account. Police said two persons, who were not known to him, approached him and soon became friendly with him. Since there was rush of customers in the bank, the two persons told him that it would be better to go to the ATM and draw the money from there.
He agreed and accompanied them. Sources said the two cheats swapped their fake ATM card with that of Balbir inside the ATM cabin and then left the spot.
The card was swapped after Balbir had drawn money, the sources added.
Sources said Balbir later came to know that Rs 38,000 had been drawn from his account on different dates from Ludhiana and other Punjab areas.
He today approached Nagrota police station and lodged a complaint in this regard. Taking cognizance of his complaint, police had registered a case under section 420 of RPC.
