Police registers FIR against militant-turned-Congress leader | | | Asif Iqbal Naik kishtwar, Aug 20: Police have registered a case against HUJI militant-turned-Congress leader Noor Mohammad Ahangar, who is sarpanch of Hullar, for allegedly assaulting a man and his son at Bandrena here yesterday. According to police sources, a case under sections 452, 323, 504, 506 and 147 of RPC was registered against Ahangar at police station, Kishtwar, for attacking Abdul Qayoom Malik, son of Abdul Gani Malik, and his son Masood Ahmed Malik yesterday at Bandrena. Ahangar and his accomplices, who also happen to be surrendered militants, allegedly beat them up when people were protesting against Shahid Hussain Baghwan and Mansoor Ahmed who had allegedly attacked the mother of a victim of eve-teasing with sharp edged weapons. Both Mansoor and Shahid are residents of Hullar from where Ahangar has won panchayat polls. Sources said the sarpanch had also provoked Hullar residents to attack protesters at Bandrena. They allegedly went on rampage as a result of which Qayoom Malik, his son and a pregnant daughter suffered injuries, the sources added. Sources said they also allegedly vandalized some houses at Bandrena and shop of Sajjad Ahmad at Shaheedi Road, Kishtwar. The unruly scenes continued for more than two hours. The situation was brought under control by a police party headed by DSP Abrar Chowdhary and CRPF. Even as police had registered FIR against the accused sarpanch and others, no action was so far taken against them. |
