Pilot inaugurates IPTAX, consumer care centre

Srinagar, Aug 20 (KNS): The Union Minister of State for communication and Information Technology, Sachin Pilot dedicated IPTAX and Customer Care Centre at Barzalla here today. These services have been installed by BSNL, Jammu and Kashmir.
Pilot while addressing on the occasion said that his Ministry is initiating all possible measures to promote and strengthen latest communication facilities in the J & K state. He said keeping in view of increasing mobile services the government would extend these facilities also in border and farflung areas. Appreciating the BSNL Institution in J & K, Mr. Pilot said that Telecommunication Revolution in the world which are already available in Dehli, Pune, Calcutta, Banglore etc would be extended in the J & K state. He said central government and state government will collectively make efforts for providing optical services etc in the J & K state at all possible low costs. He asked the BSNL authorities to display services list in Urdu also at the Consumer Care Centres.
Later, the Union Minister also reviewed the functioning of BSNL, India Post and department of IT at Rangreth Complex.
Pilot also inaugurated Computer Forensic Lab at DOEACC Centre an organization of GOI at Electronic Complex, Rangreth and Rs 1 crore has been spent so far on it A similar Lab is being developed in Jammu and would be ready soon. The Computer Forensic Lab is the application of scientifically proven methods to collect, process, interpret, for providing a conclusive description of cyber crime activities.
He said the State Data Centre (SDC) will be established at a cost of over Rs 37 crores and would become operational by April 2012. The SDC will enable consolidation of services, applications and infrastructure to provide efficient electronic delivery of different kinds of services, he added.
Earlier, Welcoming the Minister, The General Manager, BSNL, R K Koul said that IPTAX has been installed at a cost of Rs 2 crore and is having 4 thousand lines. He further said that J & K, BSNL has submitted a proposal to the Union Ministry for extending these services upto 10 thousand lines. Mr. Koul said that IPTAX would make the latest communication facilities like voice data, video, better connectivity etc available to the consumers of the valley. He said 1.67 lakh subscribers have been registered in four months this year.
Regarding Consumer Care Centre, Koul said it would facilitate the local people of the area for getting sim cards, land line connection besides, opting for new planner.
