8/21/2011 10:08:30 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 21: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has demanded formation of National Pay Policy keeping in view the rising prices in the recent past. Addressing a meeting of the NMC activists, Shastri urged the Prime Minister to frame a national level policy in future so that employees working in the central and all state government do not suffer due to the frequent changes in the prices of essential commodities. Shastri further said that he will take this issue also with the central leadership during his visit to New Delhi. He said that a delegation of the NMC led by noted trade unionists of the state will meet Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission on August 27 to appeal them to release Rs 5000 crore package to Jammu and Kashmir for payment of arrears of 6th pay commission.
Shastri said that the delegation would also call on the Union Home Minister to request him to declare Jammu and Srinagar as B-1 cities.
He also demanded immediate release of 7 per cent DA due from July last in favour of both central and state government employees. While appreciating the Chief Minister and his cabinet collogues for releasing the 6 per cent DA installment in favour of state employees and pensioners from January last, Shastri hoped that all the genuine demands of the salaried class would be addressed appropriately in a time bound manner. Other demands raised by Shastri included release of salary of motivators working in the IQDP Akhnoor besides their regularization, conversation of seasonal labour working in the irrigation department into daily rated workers and issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers in rural development department. Among those who were present in the rally included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Bhopinder Singh, Mohan Lal Sharma, Barket Ram, Girdari Lal Bhagat, Sukdev Singh, Chaman Lal Bhagat, Vijay Bhagat, Kamal Kishore, Kasturi Lal, Vijay Singh, Subash Chander and Ram Lal
