| DDC Doda inaugurates 350 Mtr span motorized Rope way over river Chenab | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
DODA, Aug 21:
District Development Commissioner Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan today
inaugurated 350 Mtr. Span motorized rope way (cradle Box) over river
Chenab at Marsoo Doda.
The rope way was funded by J&K PDC Chanderkote , while the ropeway
pull was constructed PWD (R&B) Division Doda at an estimated cost of
Rs 43.61 lacs .
About 12 villages / hamlets of Rajgarh and Saraz areas, having a
population of about 10,000 would be benefitted with the construction
of this rope way.
While speaking on the occasion, DDC Doda said that the main aim behind
the construction of this motorized rope way was to provide viable
connectivity to the people living across the River Chenab who were
facing immense problems due to the lack of road communication.
He also said that that the newly constructed motorized rope way over
the mighty river was first of its kind in the entire erstwhile Doda
district.
It is pertinent to mention here that the 72 Mtr Span foot bridge over
river chinab got submerged due to impounding water of BHEP Project
Chanderkote disrupting the only available communication link between
Roght and left side of River Chenab affecting a population of about
10,000 souls of villages and hamlets of Rajgarh and Siraz areas.
