Pensioners hold rally, allege govt insensitive towards their plight | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 21: All J&K Pensioners Association held a day long protest rally here today at Rani Park Jammu. The protest, aimed to highlight the demands of pensioners, was organised under the chairmanship of Mukund Lal Sharma (president) and Madan Lal Abrol (general secretary). A large number of pensioners and working employees from various parts of Jammu region participated in the rally. Addressing the rally, Mukund Lal Sharma alleged that the government is keeping an unsympathetic attitude towards the problems of the senior citizens. The participants also expressed solidarity with the ongoing agitation in support of the Jan Lokpal bill and rampant corruption in the country. It was also reiterated that medical allowance be enhanced to Rs 1000 more in addition to present slab. The participants also pledged to fight against the corruption prevailing in all walks of life to logical conclusion. Mukand Lal Sharma and Madan Lal Abrol urged the Government to take immediate steps to redress the problems of the pensioners of senior citizens. Among other S.D. Verma Mukund Lal Gupta, Raj Sharma Ved Gandhian Kapil Dev Sharma, Manjeet Singh Karma, Bansi Lal Puri, Bhagwan DASS Sharma also addressed the rally and expressed their concern over the problems of pensioners and corruption in the country.
