3 Cops acquitted of corruption charges | | | Early Times Report Jammu, August-22 (JNF):- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal acquitted Jagdish Raj SGC, Angad Singh SPO and Subash Kumar SGC from the charges leveled against them. According to the police case that on February 11, 2006 SP City North Jammu Manohar Singh on receipt of complaints that police personal deployed on the Nakas during night take bribe from drivers of trucks, went to Nagrota Naka from where he boarded on Truck which was being driven by Showkat Ali carrying fire food and liaqat Ali was conductor of the truck, when such truck reached at Manda Naka, Jagdish SGCT received Rs 150/o bribe from the driver of Truck and SP recovered the said amount from accused and seized. On his direction through a written letter P/S Pacca Danga registered a case U/s 5(2) PC Act and investigation was commenced by DySP DAR. When the same truck reached Balvinder Chowk SGC Subash Kumar and SPO Angad Singh stooped the said truck and demanded bribe Rs 300/- but driver paid Rs 150 as bribe. SP recovered 100 from Subash whereas 50 from Angad and a case was registered against them and after completion of investigation challan was presented against them in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jamm. The Court after hearing both the sides observed that Victim of truck driver Showkat has even contradicted that Manoh ar Singh then SP recovered the bribe money from the police personal at Naka at Manda and rather categorically stated that no recovery was affected on spot. He also denied the contents of Seizure Memo allegedly prepared by then SP Manohar Singh on spot. Court observed that prosecution has miserably failed to establish any incriminating circumstances against the accused beyond shadow of doubt and consequently failed to establish charge and therefore, challan is dismissed and accused are acquitted of offence.
