Army foils infiltration bid in Poonch | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 23: The Army today foiled an infiltration bid after Pakistani troops opened fire in the Mankote area of Mendhar in Poonch district, violating the ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC). “Security forces today foiled yet another infiltration attempt in border district of Poonch this morning,” said sources Pakistani troops fired at the Indian posts early Tuesday morning in a bid to give cover to infiltrators. The Indian Army retaliated and forced the infiltrators to retreat. "Indian troops noticed the movement of a group of militants equipped with weapons, trying to sneak in Indian territory during the wee hours today from forward Anand Post along Line of Control in Sonawali Gali area of Mankote sector of tehsil Mendhar," sources said. The exchange of fire between the two sides lasted for a little over half-an-hour Any damage to property or injury has not been reported, they added.
