| Walkovers on day one of inter-college basketball | | | EARLY TIME REPOT
JAMMU, August 23: Walkovers marked the opening day of the annual inter-college men’s basketball competitions, organised by Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) at Gymnasium Hall on the campus, here today.
Five of the 12 participating colleges did not report the venue resulting into all the four scheduled matches ended in walkover. In one such scheduled match both the participating sides of Dogra Law College and Government College for Engineering and Technology failed to report.
In the second match, Government Degree College Kathua got walkover Government Degree College Paloura while ASCOMS awarded walkover Dental College Sihora in another match. The GGM Science College also found berth in the second round of quarterfinals, to be played tomorrow, after Government Degree College Akhnoor did not turn up.
Defending champion, Government SPMR College of Commerce and last year’s runners-up, Post Graduate Departments of JU got direct entry into quarterfinals. Third and fourth position holders, Trikuta Degree College and Government MAM College got bye in the first round today.
FIXTURE: Commerce College shall face GGM Science College, ASCOMS to meet MAM College, Kathua College to take on Trikuta Degree College.
