60 kg RDX, huge cache of arms, ammunition found in Reasi | | |
KATRA, Aug 23: Sixty kilograms of deadly RDX and a large quantity of arms and
ammunition were today recovered by security forces from a hideout of militants
in the high reaches of Gangra Pattri in Mahore area of Reasi in the wee hours of
today. Acting on a tip-off, a joint column of police, 59 RR and 126 Bn of CRPF launched
an operation in the densely forested heights of Gangra Pattri late last night,
according to police sources. While combing the woods, the jawans came across a natural cave which was
being used as a hideout by top militant Manzoor Ahmad alias Saddam of Badder,
Mahore, the sources added. The search of the cave led jawans to the recovery of 60 kg RDX, one pika gun,
one RPG launcher, one LMG .303 rifle, two Chinese pistols, eight steel containers,
1,124 AK rounds, 415 pika rounds, 25 1.62mm rounds, 108 pistol rounds, one
Chinese grenade, one HE-36 grenade, one RPG shell, two army telephone
phones with receivers, 7 AGL grenades, 19 UBGL grenades, 27 magazines, one
empty pika gun belt, one plastic bag of detonators, one smoke grenade, one AD
mine, six cartiridges of .12 bore gun, one grenade fuse, 10 grenade pins, one
magnifying glass, 11 IED batteries, one electric wire piece, five fully assembled
IED circuits, 28 IED switches, two codex wire pieces, two multimetres, three
grenade throwers, 10 RPGL rockets, three shells, one Motorola battery, one
Motorola wireless set, one Kenwood wireless set, one big wireless set battery,
500 grams of iron pieces used in making IED, one sintex water tank, three pencil
cells and other daily use items. The hideout was later smashed by the jawans. Sources said the police team was led by SSP, Reasi, Keshav Ram Choursia. IGP Dilbag Singh complimented police, army and CRPF personnel who jointly
planned and executed the operation meticulously and said that such sustained
and surgical anti-terrorist operations would continue throughout Jammu Zone to
defeat the nefarious designs of anti-national elements.
