CM seeks Truth and Reconciliation Commission as if he is still in opposition | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 22: State Chief Minister Monday wanted the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to be constituted in Jammu and Kashmir to probe all the killings in the state in last 21 years. Talking to reporters after inaugurating a post office in Dal lake, Omar said, "Truth and Reconciliation Commission should be assigned task to probe all the killings in the state. Whether the killings were carried out by militants or security forces it needs to be probed." "I had demanded setting up of Truth and Reconciliation Commission when we were in opposition and I repeat the same today. There is no way out but to setup the commission," Omar told reporters when asked to comment about State Human Rights Commission's report regarding unmarked graving containing more than 2000 bodies in 38 places of the Valley. The Chief Minister said that Government too wants answers. "But it is too early to comment on it. We have a Unified command meeting tomorrow where we will discuss it," he said. Nothing could be stranger than the State Chief Minister himself seeking the constitution of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Omar said this when he was in the opposition and he is again saying it today. Could the Chief Minister kindly say who would constitute the said commission? Who is in charge in the State of Jammu and Kashmir? The way Omar Abdullah is seeking the constitution of the commission definitely indicates at least he is not incharge of the affairs of the State. Is the hon'ble Chief Minister planning to run with the deer and also hunt with the hound? Answers are only known to the Chief Minister. |
