| 3 militants killed in Valley | | | SRINAGAR: Army today claimed that in the aftermath of the killing of 12 militants, when they were crossing Kishen Ganga river in Pneumatic boats, troops have killed yet another militant near Bagtoor village in Gurez sector yesterday.
Defence sources said that two more heavily armed militants were killed in separate gunbattles in a major search operation in Handwara forest areas in the last 24 hours. Both of them were still unidentified. Two Rifle AK-47, nine Magazine, 170 Rounds, one Map Sheet, one Mobile phone, one Hand Grenade, one Global Positioning System, one Radio Set and one Compass were claimed to have been recovered from the two sites of encounter in Handwara.
A Defence spokesman said that the operation was still in progress as troops were looking for more than half a dozen fresh infiltrators in the forest area. As already reported, a middle aged woman had got killed and her husband injured in the same extensive operation yesterday. |
