IAS, IFS, KAS officers abandon administration to fulfill political ambitions | Complete administrative anarchy! | | Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, Aug 23: In what could be termed as brazen violation of civil services rules and regulations, seven officers which include two KAS officers of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's administration are holding political meetings and making knee deep efforts to woo the electorate in seven different constituencies a. They are holding significant political meetings, issuing politically motivated transfer orders, addressing Panches and Sarpanches, using state machinery to fulfill their respective political agendas and above all making mockery of Omar Abdullah's claims of accountability and punctuality. Of these seven officers, two IAS officers are facing several cases of corruption, embezzlement of funds and administrative nepotism. These two IAS officers have been loudly telling people in their respective constituencies that they are likely to be candidates of a national party in the next Assembly elections. Not only this, these two officers have managed to create ardent political workers by addressing their legitimate as well as illegitimate demands. They meet the demands of these political workers by using their office chambers. A political worker of one of these two officers while talking to Early Times from a remote village in erstwhile District Doda said "He may be an IAS officer but for us, he is our leader and we would vote for him in the next assembly elections. People are happy with his work. He has managed to create space for himself among us." He went on to add "It is due to him that a close relative of mine is now an officer." The story of these two IAS officers does not end here. These two officers have been bypassing the institution of MLA and MLC of their respective constituencies, only to score political points. Leave aside these two IAS officers; three IFS officers are also busy in nurturing their political aims and ambitions. One of these three IFS officers desires to fight Parliamentary elections from Udhampur-Doda constituency. The said IFS officer is allowing loot and plunder of forests across district Doda merely to appease commoners, so that they would vote for him in the next elections. He is moving from one village to other without being held accountable for looting the state exchequer. The said officer has the patronage of two Member Parliaments (MPs), both of whom want to settle score with the sitting MPs. The patronage has made the said IFS officer so bold that he neither informs the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) nor the minister concerned about his 'unnecessary tour programmes.' The officer despite being on an important position has not been attending to the official chores and instead, ignoring his duties. Sources said that he has been doing this since he does not want to leave any scope for his rivals to win the parliamentary elections. Early Times rung up the office of this IFS officer and found out that he was on tour. The other IFS officer has just begun the work in his constituency. About the two KAS officers, sources said that one has been politically motivated speeches while the other has been advising the commoners not to vote for NC or PDP in the forthcoming elections. They added that one of these two KAS officers has been talking openly about straightening a particular national party. Sources went on to say that despite being warned on a number of occasions, the two officers have been carrying on with their political work without any fear of getting caught. When asked, they say "If academicians, contractors, illiterate villagers can become MLAs, MPs and MLCs; why not we." |
