Court awards 10 years RI, fine on Heroine `Smuggler’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPOT Jammu, August-24 (JNF):- Third Additional Sessions Judge Jammu . Sanjay Parihar today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 10 lacs each to Yash Pal Son Parkash Chand and Arjun Singh s/o Rattan Singh both r/o Hamirpur Sidhar Tehsil Akhnoor who were facing trial under NDPS Act for having possessed commercial quantity of heroine and opium. According to the police case registered on February 21, 2010 that accused had been found carrying contraband of opium and heroine. The Investigating Officer during investigation seized 7 KG 103 gram heroine from Yash Pal and 7 KG 927 gram heroine from accused Arjun and opium more than one KG opium from Accused Arjun Singh and a case u/s 8/21/23 NDPS Act was registered and after completion of the investigation challan was presented in the Court of law. The court after hearing APP Gulzar Singh Charak and gone through the case and proceeding u/s 512 initiated against accused Devi Singh who was declared absconder and observed that both the accused Yash Pal and Arjun Singh r/o Hamirpur Sidhar Tehsil Akhnoor are sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 10 years and Rs 1 lac fine each for offence u/s 8/21 (c) of NDPS Act.
