PUC stresses profitable operation of JKTDC units | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Public Undertaking Committee (PUC) of Legislative Assembly on Wednesday asked the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation to gear up field functionaries to make all its operational units more profitable. It also called for imparting training to the existing staff so that good services will be provided to the customers. The Committee headed by MLA, Rafi Ahmad Mir and Members, Jugal Kishore, Charanjit Singh, Kafeel-ul-Rehman, Aijaz Ahmad JanAbdul Majid Wani and Mohammad Yousuf Taing met here and discussed in detail various CAG’s audit paras including catering, construction of floating rest, loss on running departmental canteens and non-charging of service tax pertaining to the Corporation for 2003-04. The Committee appreciated the progress achieved by the Corporation over the years. After threadbare discussion on these paras, the Committee dropped some audit paras and in other remaining paras the Chairman directed them to come up with the concrete reply so that these could be dropped also. It also asked them to come up with the detailed presentation in the next meeting, giving full details about the profits and losses of its units. The Committee decided that it will conduct on-the-spot visit of some units before ensuring Assembly session to check their operations. Among others, Principal Accountant General, AG’s Office, Venkatesh Mohan, Commissioner Secretary, Tourism, Atal Dulloo, Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Wali Mohammad Bhat, Managing Director, JKTDC Satish Nehru, Secretary Assembly, M Ramzan and other concerned officers of JKTDC and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
