EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Aug 24 (KNS): Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including a district commander were arrested in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district along with arms and ammunition on Wednesday, police said. Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, in a statement said a joint operation was launched by police, 53 Rashtriya Rifles and 181, 182 Battalions of paramilitary CRPF in Daroo, Wala Sangerwani, in the district. “During the search operation two militants Shabir Ahmad Kalas alias Waseem, district commander of Hizbul outfit and Liyaqat Ahmad Gorsi alias Umar, group commander were apprehended from one Doka belonging to Mohammad Shafi Bokada,” he said. Waseem was active in Sangerwani and Keller in Shopian, he said. “He (Waseem) was involved in a number of extortion and timber smuggling cases besides very recently he was involved in kidnapping of panches in Sangerwani area.” Large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from them which includes two rockets, 300 AK rounds, one SLR, one SLR magazine, one pistol, one pistol magazine, two Chinese grenades, 61 Pika rounds belt, thirty three Pika rounds, four UBGL grenades, one weapon cleaning tool, one USB data cable, 47 letter pads of HM outfit, Rs 50 thousand, one ID Card, one tape recorder cassette, two clips, one Urdu Book and one dairy, he said.
