Disaster management conference held

The National Highway No 1A the life line between Jammu and Kashmir which gets affected due to variety of natural caused, especially during the monsoons, winters and snow Tsunami of 2004 is still fresh in the memories of the residents of J&K.
To gear up for such adverse situations, army is well on its way in terms of planning, placement and establishment of nodal centres from where relief operations could be launched to provide succor to the stranded transients on NH 1A.
A co-ordination conference with participation of dignitaries from the Jammu and Kashmir police department, JKTDC, PDA and defence functionaries was held at Headquarter 71 Sub Area on 30 Nov.
Brig. K K Chopra commander 71 Sub Area Chaired the conference, in his opening remarks he highlighted the requirement for close co-ordination between the civil administration, Army and Para Military Forces with the aim to ensure efficient and effective relief to stranded transients.
