All India Invitational Karate Do Championship State Karatekas win 2 gold, 3 silver medals | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 24: The State Karatekas team returned from Kolkata after winning two gold and three silver medals in prestigious All India Invitational Karate Do Championship, Federation Cup, 2011 held on August 20 and 21at Khudiram Stadium, Kolkata. The event was organized by All India SeishinKai Shito Ryu Karate Do Federation under the banner of Bengal Olympic Association (BOA) and All India Karate do Federation. Yuvraj Singh of district Rajouri and Sumit Sharma of district Jammu won gold medal each where as Saadat Mufti (Team Captain), Sahil Singh (Malpur, Akhnoor) and Satyam Mahajan won silver medal each in their respective categories. The team was led by Coach Ambedkar Gupta (4th Dan Black Belt) who is also the coach of Indian Karate team. Students poured in from 20 states of India to display their talent in the field of karate and many from military forces Assam Rifles, Kolkata Police, NSG Black Cat Commando also displayed their skills. The voice of 2000 students in the Khudiram Stadium reverberated all over cheering their states in the inauguration as well as medal distribution ceremony encouraged by eloquence of Madan Mohan Mishra, Sports Minister Govt. of West Bengal, R.K. Pachnandan, Commissioner of Police of Kolkata, Bharat Sharma, General Secretary of All India Karate Do Federation (AIKF) distributed medals among the medal winners.
