Semis line-up drawn in inter-college basketball | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, August 24: With the entry of defending champion, Government SPMR College of Commerce and Government Degree College Kathua in the last four stage, the semi-finals line up has been drawn in the ongoing inter-college (men’s) basketball tournament of University of Jammu at Gymnasium Hall on the campus, here today. Other two teams making it to the semifinals are Government MAM College and the combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments. Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow, Commerce College shall take on MAM College while PG Departments shall lock horns against Degree College Kathua. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, played today, Commerce College trounced fighting GGM Science College 67-36 in a high scoring game. It was Shubam Sharma, who kept the scoring board moving, committing little mistake in his attempts on the basket. He contributed half of the team’s total with 33 points in his tally. Sunil Kumar also played well from Science College adding 15 points to team’s total. In another quarterfinal, Degree College Kathua defeated Trikuta Degree College 34-21 while MAM College outplayed Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) 40-15 in a one-sided affair. Last year’s runners-up, PG Departments were already there in semi-finals after the teams (Dogra Law College and GCET) in their pool failed to report. The well contested quarterfinal between Commerce College and GGM Science College was witnessed beside others by Director Physical Education and Sports, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau. He also interacted with the teams before start of the game.
