Youth held for firing at rival

Jammu: A youth last night had a providential escape after a bullet fired on him by his rival at Gangyal here missed the target.
Police said Praveen Verma, son of Pritam Chand of Colonel Colony, Satwari, allegedly fired a round on his rival Sukhdev alias Kala, son of Mohan Lal of Gangyal, at a furniture house at Gangyal at about 8.30 pm Tuesday.
The bullet, however, missed the target and Kala survived unhurt. Police later arrested the accused and recovered a country-made pistol along with eight rounds from him.
A case was registered against him at Gangyal police station under section 307 of RPC and 3/25 of arms act.
