Progress under NRHM reviewed at Samba | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Samba: 25th Aug: A meeting to review the progress of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was held here today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner. It was intimated that during the year 2010-11, an amount of Rs. 307.18 lacs was spent on various components of the scheme ‘viz’ upgradation of PHC as 24×7 PHC, integrated transport to sick mother and child, integrated RCH camps in remote PHCs, establishment of stabilization unit, compensation for female sterilization, adolescent group orientation etc. and further revealed that during 2011-12, a provision of Rs. 285.81 Lacs has been kept. The chief medical officer, Samba informed the meeting that 181 medical and para medical staff including MBBS doctors, ISM doctors, technicians have been engaged under the programme to deliver the health services especially the institutional deliveries with an objective to have safe institutional deliveries. It was also informed that 262 ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists) have been deployed, trained and fully functional in the rural areas of the district, besides 3178 rural deliveries cases were done against the target of 3200 under Janani Suraksha Yojna. The District Development Commissioner expressed his concern for shortfalls in some components especially the urban deliveries under Janani Suraksha Yojna, referral transport to sick mother and child under maternal health, lesser number of camps organized in the rural areas and directed chief medical officer to convey instructions to block medical officers to gear up their field functionaries and deliver the services to the deserving poor in the rural areas. Among others, additional deputy commissioner, chief planning officer, chief education officer, executive engineers, PHE, EM&RE, besides the block medical officers were also present in the meeting.
