DHS holds extensive Kathua tour | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kathua Aug 25: Director Health Services Jammu Madhu Khullar during her first visit to Kathua made an extensive tour and paid a surprise visit to emergency Hospital Vijaypur and was satisfied by the presence of all hospital staff . During her tour to Kathua she was accompanied by Chief Medical Officer Kathua R.K Chopra. She first visited community Health centre Hiranagar and met various deputations of local people, prominent citizens and local leaders and addressed to their problems. The main complaint was shortage of doctors including physician and an ultrasonologist. She on spot detailed a physician and posted one asstt surgeon at CHC Hgr. by a camp order and assured posting of an orthopaedic surgeon and provision of an ultrasonologist thrice a week with in a short period. Later on she inspected all sections of CHC and issued on spot directions to BMO Hgr. for immediate repair and renovation of operation theater and lab section out of the RKS funds. On reaching district hospital Kathua she inspected various sections of the hospital and appreciated the excellent work carried out by the Medical Superintendent Anoop Manhas in coordination with CMO Kathua in providing facilities to the patients and the staff of hospital. She also met a deputation of prominent citizens and local leaders of Kathua led by K.K Bakshi and Surjit Singh. She addressed to their problems of providing an orthopedic surgeon, surgeon special pediatrician, pathologist and a radiologist in immediate future. Later on she held two separate meetings of gazatted staff and paramedical staff and directed them to improve the health care delivery system for the benefit of the patient care. She assured to take up the matter of early allotment of canteen services with higher authorities and early functioning of sick new born care unit as soon as recruitment of staff nurses is made under NRHM. She then paid a visit to MG Hospital Kathua where she was appraised by the chief medical officer for delay in starting of a 20 bedded ward because of lack of funds. She assured to take up the matter with the Health Minister for early provision of funds. She then held a meeting of Block Medical Officers and staff officers of Kathua district at CMO Office Kathua. On the request of the Chief Medical Officer a physician was detailed to work at CHC parole by a camp order. She directed BMO Bani to immediately make the operation theater functional at Bani and directed BMO Billawar to improve the functioning of the CHC Billawar. She also addressed to the problems being faced by BMOs and staff officers and assured them that she would be personally visiting their respective blocks to sort out their problems and that of the public on spot in best interest of patient care.
