Dhavinder scripts Akhnoor’s win in kabaddi

JAMMU, August 25: Brilliant performance from national player, Dhavinder today guided Akhnoor Zone to a big 54-09 win in boys’ kabaddi final in the inter-zone (boys and girls) competitions of Jammu district, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at different venues, here.

In Kabaddi title clash, Akhnoor zone completely dominated the fields throughout. In the meantime, the selection committee also named the Jammu district team giving more space to Akhnoor zone boys for the inter-district competitions ahead.

Later, Bhalwal zone boys won the kho-kho final outplaying Khore zone by a margin of seven points. However, Khore zone compensated their defeat by taking away the volleyball title. In volleyball final, Khore beat Akhnoor zone in straight sets.
Triple title for Jammu girls
Meanwhile, under-19 Jammu girls showed their completed domination in team events by winning all threee titles of kabaddi, kho-kho and volleyball decided at Government Higher Secondary School Domana today.

In kabaddi final, Jammu zone defeated R S Pura zone by a narrow margin of three points, while in kho-kho final, they downed Bhalwal zone by four points. Similarly, in volleyball, Jammu trounced Bhalwal zone in straight sets.

Physical Education Master (PEM) of host school, HSS Domana, Gulbir Singh played a key role in successful conduct of this four-day long competition. The competition was supervised beside others by Sarita Padha (ZPEO), Sat Pal, Parshotam Singh, Ram Murti Sharma and Vijay Sharma (all PEMs).


Nagbani boys lift football title

In the meantime, MHAC Nagbani School lifted the boys’ under-19 football title after they defeated Government SRML Higher Secondary School 7-6 in tie-breaker at GGM Science College ground today.

Earlier, in the semi-finals, SRML beat Heritage School by a solitary goal while MHAC Nagbani outplayed BSF School Paloura 5-4 in tie breaker.

The girls’ under-19 football title went to Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi. In the final, Mubarak Mandi girls defeated Army School Domana 1-0.

Football matches were officiated by penal of experts including Ajay Sharma, Gagan Kumar, Rohit Gupta, Gurbachan Singh and Joginder Sharma (PEM).
