| 5 women held for stoning police | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 25: Police today arrested five women who alongwith others allegedly pelted stones on a police team which had gone to arrest accused at Nodal in Poonch.
Police sources said a police team from Mendhar police station had gone to arrest Ghulam Mustafa, Mustaq Ahmed, Murtaza Ahmed and Mohammed Rafiq as they were wanted in an assault on an elderly woman and a boy.
As soon as the police team reached the residences of the accused, stones were pelted on them by the accused and their families.
Five women were later arrested for pelting stones on the police team. The accused, however, managed to flee.
It may be mentioned that the accused had yesterday assaulted an elderly woman and her relative Haq Nawaz following a dispute when they were alone at their residence at Nadol.
The child had sustained serious injuries following which he was referred to the Government Medical College hospital here.
Immediately after the assault, police registered case against the accused under sections 307, 452, 147 and 148 of RPC at the concerned police station.
