Police photographer killed, 26 hurt in road mishaps | | | UDHAMPUR/JAMMU/KATRA: A police photographer was killed and 26 others were wounded, some of them critically, in separate road accidents here today. A Maruri car skidded off the national highway and fell into a deep gorge near Samroli in Udhampur at about 3 am, resulting in the death of a man and injuries to three others. The dead was identified as Sanjeev Kumar (40), son of Mohan Lal of Lambi Gali, Udhampur. The injured included Sanjeev's wife Anju Devi, Vivek Kumar, son of Om Prakash of Udhampur, and two other persons who survived with minor wounds. Sanjeev was a police photographer. He was at present posted at police training academy, Udhampur. All of them were returning from Paddar in Kishtwar to Udhampur, police sources said. Seven persons were injured when a video coach (JK02AF/0075) collided with the roadside hill at Naili in Manjakote, Rajouri, at about 2 pm. They were admitted to primary health centre, Manjakote. The condition of two of them deteriorated later. They were referred to the district hospital, Rajouri. Sources identified them as Rashida Bi, wife of Faiz Akbar, and their son Mohammad Mushtaq. Fifteen persons were hurt in a head-on collision between a minibus (JK14A/9205) and a tipper (JK02AP/6318) at Chanka Red Bridge near Arnas in Reasi at about 9.45 am. They were identified as Sheru Ram (45), his wife Veeto Devi, Janki Devi (70), Neelam Devi (28), Gourav Sharma (7), Romesh Nanda (40), Tanu (10), Geeta Devi (35), Kaka (2), son of Pritam Singh, Shubam Sharma (10), Paqi Jaan (13), Vandna Sharma (30), Baby (2), daughter of Sanjeev Kumar, Thakur Dass (40) and Prabhu Dayal. Cases in this connection were registered at the concerned police stations. |
