| PG emerges as new basketball champion | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, August 26: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of the University of Jammu today became the new inter-college basketball champion after the side outplayed title holders, Government SPMR College of Commerce in the final played at Gymnasium Hall on the campus, here.
Led by star performer, Ranbir Singh, PG Departments dominated the court throughout and clinched the title bringing the final score on board 59-24. Ranbir remained top scorer with 21 points while Amit contributed 19. Pankaj and Rakesh added valuable nine and six points respectively. From defending champion, Commerce College, Shubam Sharma fought the lone battle. He had to leave the court in the third quarter of the game due to injury.
In the final, Deputy Commandant of the Border Security Force (BSF), Ajay Kapila, who is a former international basketball player, was chief guest. He appreciated both the teams for their fighting spirit.
Director Physical Education and Sports, JU, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau was among other prominent people present in the title clash. He congratulated both the finalists for their talent.
The final was officiated by Mohd Shafi and Manoj Kumar while Aman Sharma and Amarjit Singh were on the table.
