| 3rd Inter-Sector CRPF Handball, Kabaddi Meet | | Northern Sector bags third place in handball | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, August 26: Beating Bihar Sector in the hard liner, the last year’s second position holder, Northern Sector had to contain with third place in handball in the ongoing 3rd Inter-Sector at Group Centre Bantalab stadium, here.
Almost leveled in the first half play (7-6), Northern Sector made some brilliant moves in opponent goal post beating the guard at the net badly. Bijender Singh and Narinder Mahla were at their best. They together contributed eight goals to help Northern Sector finish third with final score on board being 17-11.
Bihar Sector could not do well in the second half of the game and looked weak in dodging the goal-keeper. However, Varinder Kumar gave his best contributing maximum five goals to the team’s tally.
Now, the final of handball shall be played between is scheduled to be played between Southern Sector and Central Sector.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today morning, Southern Sector defeated Bihar Sector 24-16 while Central Sector outplayed Northern Sector 20-18.
Meantime, to the surprise of many, the ground staff did a fine job in maintaining the playing arena despite heavy rains during last two days. The two-member team of Kamaljit Dogra (Gymnastics Central team) and Dalbir Singh (Wrestling Central team) put in great efforts to set the needed infrastructure in place.
Southern faces Western in kabaddi final
Meanwhile, in kabaddi final, defending champion, Southern Sector shall be playing against Western Sector tomorrow evening. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Southern Sector beat North Western Sector 55-26 while Western Sector defeated Central Sector 39-33.
