Unfazed, Anna supporters continue protest against corruption

JAMMU, Aug 26: More and more people have come out on streets in support of Anna Hazare with many taking out rallies and staging demonstrations in different parts of Jammu region.
A mass protest was held by Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) activists against corruption, black money and poverty at Kalli Jani, Pacca Danga.
Workers were holding placards with slogan Brashtachar Khatam Karo, Mehngayi Door Karo etc and were wearing black strips on forehead and arms.
Demonstration was led by Yudhvir Sethi, BJP State Secretary along with Vijay Mahajan and Arun Sethi.
Yudhvir Sethi highlighted 2 G scam, Commonwealth Games scam and Adarsh Society scam. He said it was amazing how Congress leaders allotted flats themselves which were built for martyrs’ families and highlighted other scams which had weakened the economy of India.
Sethi said that people of Jammu & Kashmir had prepared their mind to fight against corrupt system.
Jammu & Kashmir People Democratic Party held a Diya Protest at Kachi Chawni against State and central Government to support Anna Hazare for Lokpal Bill.
The protest rally was led by Vikram Singh, Girish Sharma, Pankaj Gupta, Sachin Sharma and Sonu Sani
PDP Workers also staged a sit-in at Kachi Chawni Chowk here in support of Anna Hazare, whose indefinite fast entered the eleventh day today.
Vikram Singh Said "The demand of Hazare to enact an anti-corruption bill to give wider powers to the Ombudsman, should be immediately implemented to get rid of corruption".
Congress was misleading people and it should come out with concrete measures on corruption, he said.
In support of Anna Hazare’s crusade against corruption, a massive rally took place at Arnia, 25 kilometres from here by PDP Workers. A large number of PDP Leaders took part in the Rally.
The rally was organized by Chatter Singh Saini, Vice President, PDP Jammu District Rural.
While speaking on the occasion Tarlok Singh Bajwa, Vice President PDP, said that it was Mufti Mohd Sayeed, PDP Patron, when he was the Chief Minister of the State that he took the daring step to curb corruption by creating an Accountability Commission. It is only PDP who can solve the problems of the people of the State. He appreciated the step taken by Anna Hazare for eradicating corruption.
Chatter Singh Saini while thanking the participants said that the present Government failed on all fronts particularly to curb corruption and solving the problem of the general masses. He urged the people to whole heartly the support the policies and programmes of People Democratic Party and strengthen the hands of Mtr. Mehbooba Mufti PDP President. He also requested the Government of India to bring a strong Lok Pal Bill in the Parliament at the earliest.
Under BJP’s month long district level awareness programmes launched against corruption, black money and price rise, Ramban district unit organized such massive programme in the town. BJP National Secretary Shyam Jaju, National Executive Member Dr. Nirmal Singh and State Vice President Bali Bhagat were the main speakers on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shyam Jaju said that Congress-led UPA at the centre should realize that times have changed and their misdeeds of corruption and scams get exposed and can no longer proclaim itself as a Gandhian party. Their dithering in unearthing black money and getting ill- gotten wealth stashed away in foreign banks has resulted in the present nation-wide outrage and lowering the majesty of the institution of parliament in the public. The public is no longer going to be taken in by the Congress leaders’ promises of passing Lok Pal Bill in the parliament.
Dr. Nirmal Singh, in his address, described the Anna phenomena as a total revolt throughout the length and breadth of the country against the prevalent system, which has been the outcome of misdeeds of Congress-led UPA. Citing the example of price rise and corruption, he said that inspite of the efforts of the Congress-led UPA to protect its corrupt ministers, yet its two ex ministers are in jail and many more are waiting for their turn.
National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) today continued their struggle against corruption and in support of Anna Hazare.
NPSU activists held a massive protest demonstration at Shaheedi Sthal outside GGM Science College.
The students under the banner of NPSU gathered at Shaheedi Sthal and held massive protest demonstration against Congress led UPA government. The protest was led by Abhay Sharma (Provincial Vice-President NPSU).
NPSU activists raised slogans against the central government who is not taking the matter of corruption seriously. They also burn the effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Addressing the gathering Abhay Sharma and Devinder Singh asked the government to drop the idea of a “Sarkari Lokpal”, which he said is envisaged in the bill introduced in the Lok Sabha earlier this month. He said that the government must talk to Anna’s team, political parties and others for a “Strong, Independent Lokpal” with a view to bring a maximum number of persons under its purview.
State Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Randhir Singh has also supported the Janlokpal bill drafted by Anna Hazare and his associates.
Singh said now at this crucial moment where the entire nation demand the accountability of our representatives in the parliament, assemblies, corporate sector and bureaucracy as the rampant corruption has engulfed the entire country. The 74 years old Anna Hazare, a true Gandhian, has awakened the conscience of all sections of the society from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari against rampant corruption in the country. A veteran leader Singh said this is a test of the parliamentarians of all political parties to support the JanLokpal bill and Anna Hazare’s three demands.
Jammu and Kashmir Bank Officers Association (JKBOA) on Friday extended its support to the anti-graft campaigner Anna Hazare saying 'he deserved a salute from all walks of life'.
"The resolute fight of Anna Hazare against corruption deserves a salute from all walks of life including the banking fraternity of which the Jammu and Kashmir banking officers are a small part," Riyaz Ahmed Bhat, president JKBOA said.
Bhat said that the septuagenarian had "shown the way for younger generation how to fight for a social change in a most democratic and non violent manner against all odds".
The Jammu and Kashmir Bank Officers Association as a part of working class society expresses its support to all those steps and struggles which are meant to bring transparency and accountability in the governance which we believe will be an effective tool in fighting "the monster of corruption at all places including Banking industry", he said.
Former Minister and founder of Nature-Mankind Friendly Global Movement (NMFGM) Babu Singh said that the crusade against the corruption should be taken to the logical and reasonable point by the people of the country. He said that this right and accurate time to understand the root cause of the corruption which is the offshoots of the present one sided and out dated global corporate system in which all the lower to top level politicians including PM, MPs, Ministers MLAs, bureaucrats, Industrialists and other big houses of the country as well as world are major responsible players. He said that the corporate world top Media should also be included in the Lokpal Bill.
The state president of Shiva Sena Ashok Gupta has alleged that the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) Commissioner Mehboob Iqbal for committing a scam of Rs 500 crore in JAKFED.
While addressing a gathering at Kathua today, Gupta slams the coalition government for not taking any step against the corrupt as Iqbal is still enjoying the prime posting as Commissioner PHE.
He said that the crusade against the corruption launched by Anna Hazare should be fully supported by each and every person of the state in order to establish a true democratic corruption free India.
Extending whole hearted support to Gandhian Anna Hazare crusade against rampant Corruption un the country, Jai Jawan Jai kissan Development Committee (JJJKDC) today lashed out at the UPA government for restoring to repressive measures to suppress the democratic voce of people.
The Committee held a meeting under the chairmanship of Anil Sharma president JJKDC at its headquarters Vikas Nagar Sarwal. The participants while extending full support to popular movement against the corruption alleged that the detention of social activists Anna Hazare was illegal unconstitutional and undemocratic.
Addressing the participants Sharma said, “We extended our support to anti-corruption crusade launched by Anna Hazare and his team. This is the high time for every citizen to awake to rampant corruption and fight against the menace in unison”.
