Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Aug 26: In continuation with the spirit of revival of Dudu leg of Kailash Kund Yatra from Dudu -Basantgarh Sub Division after a gap of more than 15 years, a huge contingent of three-day historical Kailash Kund Yatra alongwith Charri Mubarak was flagged off from Vasuki Nag Temple today.
MLA Chenani K.C Bhagat alongwith Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dudu Basantgarh Amit Sharma, who has played an instrumental role in re-inventing this old traditional route with support and cooperation of management committee of the Yatra, flagged off the Yatra. Lot of enthusiasm and high spirits were visible on the faces of numerous pilgrims hailing not only from various nooks and corners of Dudu Basantgarh but also from Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Chenani and Ramnagar.
When contacted, SDM who also happens to be Nodal Officer of this Yatra mentioned that inspite of best efforts on part of administration and organizers, Helicopter services could not be initiated from Dudu this year, primarily due to foggy and cloudy weather conditions at landing point near Kailash Kund due to which lot of people missed out who were keen to conduct Yatra through helicopter this year.
But otherwise, all arrangements are well in place such as medical and first aid facilities, water availability, stay arrangements, Langer facilities right from Dudu to enroute and night halt point at Seoj Dhar which SDM Amit Sharma is personally monitoring and ensuring from time to time. Moreover, he disclosed that concerned Tehsildar and SDPO are personally moving alongwith yatries to ensure its smooth conduct this year.
It is worthwhile to mention here that last year, more than 10,000 pilgrims scaled the steep heights of Seoj Dhar covering a distance of almost 40 kms in which SDM led from the front by moving himself alongwith Yatra after its flagging off and on the same analogy, the Kailash Kund Yatra alongwith historical Charri Mubarak was organized.
