LeT poster found pasted onto mosque wall at Kishtwar | | | KISHTWAR: A handwritten Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) poster was today found pasted onto the outer wall of Jamia Masjid in the heart of the town here, disputing police claims that the outfit had been totally wiped out in the erstwhile Doda district. Signed by LeT commander Abu Akasa of Pakistan, the poster paid tributes to LeT commanders - Habib Gujjar alias Salman and Subash Shah alias Wasif - who were shot dead by security forces in an encounter at Renie Nullah near Marwah here on July 27 last. Akasa was active here since the first quarter of 2010 but had fled to safer areas following intensified operations of police and army in Kishtwar woods against militants. The poster handwriting matched the handwriting of the poster which was found pasted onto the wall of the Jamia masjid on August 20, 2010. The two posters had been written by the same person, police sources said. The poster claimed that LeT cadres were active in the district and said the outfit would continue its "war against security forces in the state". Sources said new groups of militants were said to have entered Kishtwar mountains. Three Pak militants led by Abu Anas were reportedly hiding in Balandar Top area of Palmar, the sources added. Another group led by Akasa and Imran Malik of Bharath, Doda, was spotted in Dhar area of Keshwan forests. Though troops had been alerted in the district, senior police officers did not share details but said they were prepared to stop fresh infiltration of militants into Kishtwar district. |
