| New Secretary for Cultural Academy by Sept 19 Govt constitutes 5-member committee | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Aug 28 (KNS): The State Government has constituted a five member selection committee to select new Secretary for Cultural Academy, sources told KNS.
They said the com headed by senior National Conference leader and former Secretary of the Academy, Mohammad Yosuf Taing will hold a meeting immediately after Eid to finalize the process.
The committee has Commissioner Secretary General Adminstration Department, Mohammad Sayeed Khan, Commissioner Secretary Toursim and Culture, Atul Duloo, noted poet Rehman Rahi and former Secretary of the Academy, N D Sharma.
Talking to KNS Taing confirmed that he received an order from the government in this regard. “I’ve been given one month time to finalize the process. I’ll submit my report to the government before September 19.”
“I have asked other members of the committee to nominate the candidates so that we can shortlist them. I’ll call a meeting before September 10 where it would be finalized,” he added.
Taing said they want to find a person who can take the Academy to new heights. “He should be competent person who can run a vital institution,” he added.
Sources told KNS that Balwant Thakur, Lalti Mangotra, Ayaz Rasool Nazki and Dr Aziz Hajni have been short listed.
The term of present Secretary Zaffar Iqbal Manhas ends on August 31. He has been holding the post for the last more than three years.
