EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar Aug 27 : Opposition Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti Saturday visited family members of slain Abdul Gani Gojree at his residence in Lariganapoora Langate.
Gojree was killed in a grenade attack in Baramulla town on Thursday. Mehbooba expressed deep sympathy and compassion with the bereaved family. She said the loss to the family is irreversible and cannot be compensated. However she prayed for the peace to the soul of Abdul Gani and for the patience of bereaved family members.
Expressing anguish on the mysterious attack she said it was the handiwork of those who do not have value for human lives and wants gain selfish ends out of creating disturbances.
“The incident is shocking to the family, as the Eid is approaching, but the family of Abdul Gani is mourning and not even a single person from the government has so far reached to them. He was the lone bread winner for the family, and his death has severe repercussions on the family-both psychologically and monetarily,” she said.
Mehbooba said that the because of the ‘inabilities and insensitive nature’ of the present government the common citizen feels insecure. “The government only promises tall claims but practically it is a failure by not protecting human rights and lives,” she alleged.
Mehbooba reiterated that it was the duty of government to protect the civilian life, dignity and honor. “But present government has failed to do so. Also it is the responsibility of the government to compensate the loss to the family in every possible manner. The government should compensate monetarily and should appoint his widow in any government post under SRO,” she said.
