| Benia wins 58th Sankri Kesari title | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Aug 27: Wrestler Benia of J&K Police of Basantgarh in District Udhampur lifted “58th Annual Sankri Kesari Title 2011 organized by Meer Dangal committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association at Sankri Devta Devsthan in Block Panchari in Udhampur.
The Dangal was held under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma. For winning the main bout, Benia was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5,500 while runner-up Wrestler Rinku of Muthi Jammu was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3,500 from Chief guest, Tehsildar Settlement who is also Mela Officer Sushil Kumar Kesar, Member J&K State Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma Presided over the function.
B.M.O Panchari, G.L Dogra, SDPO, Mukesh Kumar, President Sankri Devsthan Development Committee, Narinder Sharma, SDPO Kuldip Khajuria, Range officer, Puran Singh and SHO Panchari, S.P Modi were the guests of honour. District Horticulture officer Udhampur, Virender Sharma, Naib-Tehsildar Panchari Mulk Raj, NIC officer Achint Gupta, Sarpanch Prabhat Singh, Sarpanch Laxman Dass, Sarpanch Baldev Singh were also present on the occasion.
J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association President Shiv Kumar Sharma thanked District Commissioner Udhampur Bashir Ahmed Khan IAS for their support to the promotion of indigenous game of wrestling. D.C has sanctioned Rs. 6,000 for organizing dangal as financial assistance. Second main bout was played between wrestler Kulvir singh of Kot Bhawal Jammu V/s Wrestler Atter Din of Jammu.
In all, 41 bouts were played in one day dangal. Other results Kailash beat Kuldip Singh, Saleem Mohd beat Gurdev Singh, Jamat Ali beat Prakash Singh, Gopal Singh beat Bagga, Liakat Ali beat Prem Verma and Jamat Ali of Jammu beat Gurdev Singh of Davigarh, no bout ended in a draw. |
