Govt to continue its endeavors to meet people’s aspirations: Sham
SDSMS organizes health mela at Thial

UDHAMPUR, Aug 27: Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma, inaugurated a 2-day health mela, being organized by Shri Durga Dass Sharma Memorial Society (SDSMS) in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services at Thial in Udhampur here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Sham called for close coordination between health department and field functionaries to extend adequate Medicare to the people especially living in remote and far-flung areas of the State. He reiterated the resolve of the government to accord utmost priority to the patient care in the government hospitals and other associated hospitals in the state.

Minister said the state is fast progressing on the front of health services and the day is not far when the people even in far off villages could avail specialized consultancy at their doorsteps. He also called upon medicos to render their services with dedication and missionary spirit to uphold the dignity of this noble profession.

He said that doctor’s paramount job is to save the lives of his patients. He said that our state is the only state in the country which provides 90% health care facilities in public sector. He said that due to topography of the state, government has decided to provide critical care ambulance at every 30 km.

Sham said that the decreasing sex ratio in the country is alarming and those support female foeticide be treated as murderers and be brought to the book. He said that female foeticide is a slur on the present day society and this menace if not checked will have a devastating impact on the sex ratio. The need is to organize state level seminars to raise awareness among the people in this regard.

Enroute, the Minister inspected the PHCs at Mansar and Dansal and took stock of facilities being provided there to patients. He also inspected construction work of PHC Thial and directed executing agencies to complete the building within next 3 months.

Later, the Minister addressed a public meeting at Manwal in which the people of the area putforth their grievances and demands which mainly included emergency hospital building, provision of teaching staff, etc.

Minister assured them that their genuine demands would be redressed at the earliest. On the occasion, Minister also congratulated newly elected Sarpanches and Panches of the area and asked them to serve their respective areas for better development and prosperity.
