| Unemployed, Abandoned Jammu youth and Rs 1000 crore package | | Where Is The Jammu Leadership? | | Rustam
JAMMU, Aug 27: Don't's accuse the Kashmiri leadership of perpetrating injustice after injustice on the people of Jammu province. For, the Kashmiri leadership has been doing what was expected of it. It was rabidly anti-Jammu before 1947, when the Dogras were ruling the state and dispensing justice to everyone, and it has been anti-Jammu after independence. The bias of the Kashmiri leadership towards the people of Jammu province, including Hindus and Muslims, is based on two fundamental factors. One is that the Dogras ruled over Kashmir for 101 years after 1846. The other is that the Kashmiri leadership hates the people of Jammu because the latter have never allowed the Kashmiri leadership to obtain autonomy from New Delhi. The people of Jammu province are the main hindrance, according to the Kashmiri leadership. Angry as the Kashmiri leadership is with the people of Jammu province for these two fundamental reasons, it is satisfying its anti-Jammu urge by evolving and implementing ruthlessly rabidly anti-Jammu policies. Hence, to accuse the Kashmiri leadership of ignoring the people of Jammu province would be a futile exercise at the moment.
Accuse New Delhi. It is New Delhi's political class that has created in the state a situation which has helped the Kashmiri leadership to do what it has been doing since 1947. It is the New Delhi-based political class that has consistently given a preferential treatment to Kashmir and its people at the behest of the Kashmiri leadership. In fact, New Delhi's political class has never considered the people of Jammu province as relevant or as an equal partner in the state's polity and economy. It has announced till date several financial and employment packages and all meant for Kashmir with the people of Jammu province getting just crumbs.
Take, for example, the training-cum-placement Rs 1000-crore package the Union Government announced and inaugurate recently. The package says that it has been designed to keep the Kashmiri youth away from separatism. You may put in any amount of effort to find if there is any reference to the unemployed, marginalized and abandoned Jammu youth in the package, you would come out of the exercise minus everything. And, this is not for the first time that the New Delhi-based political class has humiliated the people of Jammu, including the Jammu youth, by rigorously excluding them from this package. All the Central packages have excluded the Jammu youth and the Jammu people. The Delhi-based political takes the people of Jammu, including the youth, for a ride because they do not take recourse to the methods sections of Kashmiri Muslims, including the Kashmiri youth, take. This is the only fault of the people of Jammu province, including youth, for which they have been suffering enormous losses. New Delhi is responsible for the socio-economic and political degeneration of the people of Jammu province. There should be no doubt it. It only listens to those who adopt a threatening posture. It crushes those who take recourse to peaceful means.
And, what about the Jammu province-based leadership? About it, less said the better. Suffice it to say that it doesn't represent the people of Jammu province; it represents its own vested interests. That's the reason it has never come forward to support the cause of the people of Jammu province and that's the reason the latter have no respect for the former.
The crux of the matter is that the people of Jammu, including youth, have themselves to find ways and means that could enable them to obtain what they legitimately deserve. They have to create a situation similar to the one Anna Hazare created to show the Congress and the UPA their rightful place. The people of Jammu must assert and fight, as they have been left with no other option. Any casual approach on their part would simply add to their woes. |
