NC supporter dares CM | `Know the object of Iftaar parties' | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 27: Even as the Chief Minister is hosting lavish Iftaar Parties, his staunch supporter from what used to be a strong bastion of National Conference is starving. She has nobody to fall back upon. Zoona (name changed) defied the separatist call for poll boycott and voted for the National Conference candidate in 2008 elections. Her vote changed the life of the MLA but her condition worsened. She rarely gets two meals now. Zoona said: "The object of Ramadhan fasting is to enable a well off person to understand the pangs of hunger. Hosting Iftaar parties to feed the people a virtuous deed. But, before inviting strangers, one has to look in his neighbourhood. I am an insider for all practical purposes but have been forgotten and left out." A family in Zoona's neighborhood that lost a member during last year's agitation is well placed now. According to Zoona people have been coming to them with help. "The loss of a family member has been a blessing in disguise for them. It is an irony that one has to sacrifice a family member to shake the conscience of the well off people", she said. Zoona has a word of advice for the Chief Minister. "Not to speak of helping them, you have failed to even console the bereaved families. You have also failed to look after your supporters at least in my constituency. This is not going to do you any good in the long run. While your supporters suffer, you host Iftaar parties for bureaucrats and politicians. Direct your MLAs to reach the people. This can be done by hosting similar parties in their respective constituencies." |
