Peace pre-requisite for making JK a model state of country: Bhalla

Jammu, Aug 28: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said Government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the inhabitants of urban basties like adequate drinking water, electricity, road connectrivity, education, healthcare besides better lanes and drains adding that for this purpose, Government has provided liberal funding for developing all the basties on modern lines.
The Minister said this while interacting with the people of Ambedkar Nagar after assessing the development related problems of them, here today.
During the tour to Ambedkar Nagar, Bhalla asked the R&B engineers to immediately start the construction work for raising the height of lane and drain besides two to three feet height of 200 meter nallah embankment so that the overflow of nallah water do not harm the property of residents during flash floods in monsoon.
He informed that Government has prepared a comprehensive plan costing Rs. 45 crore for upgradation of Landoi Choi nalllah adding that after receiving ADB funding under loan-2, the modernization work of nallah could be started.
Bhalla asked the land grabbers to evict the State land voluntarily otherwise be ready to face action adding Government has constituted a special squad for eviction of encroachments on state land and the help of Police department would also be taken to deal with those who would create problems in stopping the development works on Government land.
He said such types of practices are creating hindrances for them during eviction of land forcefully.
Responding to the people’s demands, the Minister asked the Tehsildar Settlement to camp the Ambedkar Nagar and prepared the lists of losses/damages of flood victims and submit the same for relief so that the compensation could be distributed among them under NCRF norms. He asked the flood affected families to personally approach the Revenue Officers along with lists of losses so that the relief could be disbursed after proper verification by the officers. For improving water supply, he asked the PHE to lay water supply pipes in the drinking water scarcity areas.
He asked JMC to immediately depute a team of nallah gang for removing the debris from local nallah.
Regarding restoring the breach portions of nallah, he asked the Urban Environmental Engineering Department to start the works so that the people do not face any inconvenience during rainy season.
At Balmiki Nagar, Mr. Bhalla laid foundation for construction of two toilet blocks, waiting shed, water reservoir with tootian besides fixing of interlock tiles in cremation ground, for which Government has announced Rs. 20 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete the project within stipulated time frame for the benefit of the people
