CAPD fines Rs 8,000 against erring shopkeepers | | | Early Times Report ANANTNAG, August 28: A fine of Rs 8,000 was recovered from allegedly erring shopkeepers by the CAPD squad sunday during market inspection in the Anantnag town. Ahead of Eid-Fiter CAPD have constituted a market checking team in Anantnag that on Sunday conducted various raids in shopping centers, markets and bazaars of Anantnag town and found various shopkeepers involved in profiteering and overcharging while they also didn’t display rate lists at conspicuous places in their shops. Marketing checking team also seized a large quantity of experienced edible oil, food stuffs etc. During checking the team imposed fine on four chicken meat shopkeepers/stall holders who were caught selling meat on rates higher to the one given in price list “We have warned the shopkeepers to avoid adulteration and overcharging ahead of Eid Fiter and no one would be allowed to fleece the public by under weighing and raising rates over the fixed ones,” Assistant Director Food and Supplies Gulam Rasool Magray said, adding that the market checking team will continue such raids in future also. The raiding team handed them down with a total fine of Rs.8000/- on the spot and warned shopkeepers to avoid violating Price Control Act and adulteration and warned the shopkeepers that it they would violate rules they would have to go behind the bars.
