UDHAMPUR | DEC 2 Govt. PG College, Udhampur lifted the trophy on Inter-Collegiate Volley ball Tournament for Men-2006 being played in the premises of College here today. The players of Udhampur College thrashed opponents in straight sets by 3-0 in every aspects of game with coordination and excellent team work. The favourite Sher Singh, tallest player of the tournament and Mohd Ashraf of home team by their outstanding performance clinched the first two sets with excellent smashes and defence. Roshan Lal of Kathua College smashed excellent shots but could not beat the defence of Udhampur College Players. Kathua College Players fought well in the third set but could not convert it into victory and lost by 25-23. The final scores of the match remained as 25-18, 25-17 and 25-23. The officials of the match were Ashok Kumar (Referee), Rajesh Virdhi (Referee), Pawan Kumar (Scorer) and Viajy Kumar (Scorer). Brig. K.K. Chopra, VSM, Sub-Area Commander was the chief guest while O.P. Kalandrai, DDC, Udhampur, R.L. Sharma, Principal, GGM Science College, Keshav Sharma, Director Business School and Director of Physical Education, JU, Prof. Usha Jayee, Principal, Govt. College for Women, Udhampur, Sham Lal, Sports Promoter, Udhampur and Vice-Chairman JKCC, S.Hardeep Singh Gill, Treasurer, Volleyball Association of J&K, Raj Guru, President Voleyball Association of J&K and Pardeep Chopra, Veteran Volleyball Player Distt. Udhampur were the guests of honour. Earlier, Principal Govt. PG College Udhampur welcomed the guests and honoured them by presenting bouquet and memontos. Later on, chief guest distributed the prizes and winner trophy to the players and team.
