| Kashmira Vahini visit Jagati township, take stock of situation | | | EARLY TIMES
Jammu, Aug 29: A delegation of Kashmira Vahini visited Jagati residential quarters and had a series of meetings with the inmates particularly the female members of the displaced community. During the meetings, attention of the delegation was drawn towards glaring problems faced by the displaced community residents, who complained that the government had not made any arrangements for identifying some nearby place to serve as a cremation ground and they had to travel 10 to 15 kms; for cremating the departed members which entailed not only an avoidable transport expenditure but also the hassles of braving the inclement weather conditions and the time factor involved.
Likewise, while there was more than adequate transport arrangements in the city, at the same time only a few mini buses plied to and fro Jagati for which usually, a long wait of two to three hours for the transport service, coupled with overcrowding were wrecking the worst to the residents.
It is intriguing to observe such a scenario, when to all intents and purposes, the supply of and the demand for mini buses were very much favourable rather supplies outstretching the demand, the inmates are made to suffer and their mobility impaired.
In the same manner, the displaced inmates complained of erratic supply of cooking gas which was not only supplied much below the minimal demand but to get a refill, many consumers of the tenements had to travel long distances . Insanitary conditions and most of the bath rooms leaking, were other hardships faced by the inmates.
The delegation cautioned the community members that after a brief “break”, the disruptive forces within the community were back with their “His Master’s Voice” agenda employing anti community, pro apathetic communal state government activities laced with disinformation campaign by spreading dissentions and canards as, such agents seemed to be on the pay list of the forces inimical to the interests of the exiled Kashmiri Pandit community .
To achieve this sinful aim, some one is rife with such activities only with an eye for a petty berth in the state cabinet.
Those in the government appointed committees called Apex or Duplex, were part and privy to the programmes where draconian conditions were attached with the PM’s Employment Package.
Such conditions were even coming under the ambit of being violative of Human Rights, especially when an appointee happened to be a female. If such acts of the government dictated by communal considerations were resisted and taken up at highest echelons of the government and redressal sought by the Kashmira Vahini , such anti community forces started feeling ill at ease and indulge in playing all false and spreading doubts and casting aspersions which deserve condemnation.
The Vahini delegation assured the community members that Vahini had embarked upon intensifying the struggle for ameliorating the sufferings of the community members and fighting religious apartheid, especially in respect of the female and youth sections, with an ultimate goal of getting a separate Homeland in Kashmir, our birth place of thousands of years. |
